Robert Neblett founded Inevitable Theatre Company in Dallas, TX, in 2006 and resurrected it in St. Louis, MO, in 2017, after a prolonged hiatus. Robert holds a PhD in Dramatic Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, where he directed productions such as Marisol, Vinegar Tom, and Iphigenia and Other Daughters.
He has worked as a director, dramaturg, and playwright for companies across the country, including Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare Theatre, Tennesee Repertory Theatre (now Nashville Repertory Theatre), WaterTower Theatre, Dallas Festival of Independent Theatres (FIT), Out of the Loop Festival, The HUB Theatre, and (Mostly) Harmless Theatre. His plays Simply Simone: The Music of Nina Simone and Dracula: The Case of the Silver Scream (co-written with longtime collaborator David Grapes) have been produced at theatres and colleges throughout the US and Canada, garnering critical praise and numerous awards.
He has also taught and directed at SUNY-Oneonta, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, University of Northern Colorado, University of North Texas, Tarrant County College, Mountain View College, and St. Louis Community College.
Robert is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreography Society, Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas, and The Dramatists Guild of America.
